Bones Season 1 Disc 1 Side A Wrap Up

by

This week’s TV on DVD Season I am going through and doing wrap ups of is the four double sided disc Bones Season 1 set. I will be posting about one side of a disc each day until next Monday. This is the wrap up of Side A of the first disc.

Bones Season 1

“Pilot” - This episode begins with Angela in the airport trying to find the incoming of a flight from Guatemala. It turns out that she is picking up Dr. Bones. Bones ends up attacking a Homeland Security officer that she thinks is following her. It turns out to have been a set up by FBI agent Booth to rescue her. He needs her to help in a case involving a body found in Arlington National Cemetery. Booth gets permission to take Bones out in the field, which is the role in the investigation that Bones required if she was to help him again. Bones takes a bat to a television being carried by who turns out to be Peter, who is her ex-boyfriend. Using holographic recreation they discover that it is a woman that had an affair with a Senator. Booth now does not want Bones to be involved in the investigation, but she sort of blackmails him into still allowing her to be part of it. They find out that the woman was pregnant when killed. Bones begins to realize that she best relates with dead people and cannot relate with the living. Bones gets DNA from the Senator by taking his gum and attacking a man that tried to get it from her. Booth and Bones search the stalker’s house. The find a sledge hammer in the Senator’s house, but not the possible crime scene. Bones realizes that it is the Senator’s aide that did it and she goes to confront him and shoots him in the leg before Booth gets there. In the end Bones reveals to Booth about her parents disappearing when she was 15 and Booth tells her that he took a lot of lives as an army sniper and would like to catch at least that many murderers.

“Pilot” Audio Commentary - This audio commentary is somewhat of a more general about the series, but it kind of fits being it is the show’s pilot episode. They do still also talk about this specific episode behind the scenes/making of info. Much of the specifics for this episode are them commenting about the testing of the pilot.

“The Man in the SUV” - This episode begins with a man in the SUV being blown up with a car bomb. Homeland Security hoping that the body is not of the man the car belongs to, as that would mean a high level government person being involved in terrorism in that it blew up a cafe when it went off. They use flesh eating beetles to clean the bones of the victim to id them. When Bones goes to tell Booth that it is the person they thought it was, she finds him with a girlfriend. It turns out he is not a terrorist and it was a car bomb under the car to blow him up, which by the way I thought was obvious from the start and thought the whole him being a suicide bomber terrorist was odd. It seems that the man was being poisoned before his death. They decide to use the beetles that ate the flesh off the bones to try to figure out the poison. It turns out that it was the man’s brother who poisoned his him and then killed him with a car bomb. Before they find this out the brother has already made another bomb and they think he is going to detonate it at a peace conference. Bones notices him and Booth takes him out with a head shot. After the incident Booth and Bones have drinks in a bar before Booth goes home to his girlfriend.

“A Boy in a Tree” - Angela and Hodgins are bored with their Jeffersonian lab work and want another murder investigation. Zack and Bones go with Booth to a prep school to work on a new case. There they find a body hanging in a tree. Bones finds a cochlear implant in the dead boy, which helps them identify the body. Bones is uncertain whether it is suicide or homicide, but has to say it is homicide in order for the investigation to continue. Booth is convinced it is homicide despite the school counselor saying he was at high risk for suicide. While searching the boy’s room they find a sex DVD of the victim and a girl at the school. They get the other sex tapes that had been confiscated from students at the school. On one of these tapes they find had his roommate with another student’s mother. Bones begins to think it could be suicide for sure when she realizes how the jaw bone could have been broken. It turns out, though, that he was murdered because he was going to tell the headmaster about the blackmailing with sex tapes that was going on. In the end Bones gives Booth an access badge for the Jeffersonian.

“The Man in the Bear” - This episode begins with a human hand being found in a dead bear’s stomach. Bones notices it was sawed off before the bear ate it. Booth and Bones go to Washington State to investigate the bones. Teeth marks on the bones show that a human ate the flesh off the bones. Hodgins finds pieces of skin with a tattoo in bear scat that Bones sends to the Jeffersonian. Angela uses the pieces to find out what tattoo was of. In the freezer of an Indian park ranger’s cabin they find frozen meat that might be human. Angela tells Bones to take Booth out for drinks and fun. On the dance floor she ends up with several guys who she does not even realize are hitting on her, but she just thinks they are pumping her for information on the cannibal. It turns out that the park ranger ran because the meat he had was black bear, which he had been poaching. They end up finding the man who the bear had eaten part of and a missing woman dead in the woods near a medicine wheel symbol made with rocks. The medicine wheel symbol suggests that there will be two more victims if the ritual is to be finished. They end up finding out it was the local doctor/coroner based on sternum spreader marks on the bone. The mail courier thing that goes on throughout the episode with Zack and Hodgins thinking the woman mail courier likes them ends with an interesting twist of her choosing to give the last delivery to Angela, which in hindsight of the much later episodes (season 3, I think) makes it suggest what later is revealed about her.

  1. Federal Records Database Says:

Hello. This is kind of an “unconventional” question , but have other visitors asked you how get the menu bar to look like you’ve got it? I also have a blog and am really looking to alter around the theme, however am scared to death to mess with it for fear of the search engines punishing me. I am very new to all of this …so i am just not positive exactly how to try to to it all yet. I’ll just keep working on it one day at a time Thanks for any help you can offer here.
