Bones Season 1 Disc 3 Side A Wrap Up

by

This week’s TV on DVD Season I am going through and doing wrap ups of is the four double sided disc Bones Season 1 set. I will be posting about one side of a disc each day until next Monday. This is the wrap up of Side A of the third disc.

Bones Season 1

“The Woman in the Garden” - A recently dug up body is found in a vehicle. As Booth arrests the man driving a car a drive by shooting occurs, which is done to help the man being arrested escape. Bones find out that the victim was pregnant when killed. They find a garden where the body was likely buried, where they find another spot where another body was buried. They find the other body on a Senator’s property. The second body is the father of the other body. They find a bullet in this body, but it turns out he survived for years from that bullet and died of cancer. They find the man that was driving the vehicle and interview him in the hospital where Bones realizes he is the brother of the woman and not the murderer. He is also a gardener at the Senator’s. Bones beats up one of the gang members Booth brings in for questioning. Bones then reveals to Angela that last time she was in El Salvador she was held captive by similar gang members for three days. It turns out the woman was involved with the Senator’s son. They discover that the woman was murdered by having her head bashed against the son’s bed post. Bones and Angela use the holographic machine to find out that the woman’s head hit the bed post when being yanked off a ladder. Booth finds out that a hit has been put out on Bones probably for attacking the gang member brought in for questioning. Booth goes and confronts the gang member and threatens him with a gun put in his mouth to get him to take the hit off.

“The Man on the Fairway” - Bones and Zack investigate a scene without Booth present of a airplane crash landing on a golf course. The flight was a state department flight with VIPs. The state department wants the Jeffersonian to focus on the unidentified sixth passenger while Bones is more interested in the bone fragments found that were found on the spot the plane crashed. A famous missing person investigator thinks the bones belong to his father that went missing many years ago. The find out the bone fragments were from a body frozen and fed through a wood chipper. The son thinks it was his father’s girlfriend. The son starts to get Bones thinking about investigating her parent’s disappearance with help from Booth and/or private investigators and not just trusting the original law enforcement. They think the unidentified body on the plane was a woman that was possibly an escort. Hodgins and Zack do an experiment throwing a frozen pig through a wood chipper. It turns out the bone fragments are not the father of the man they originally thought it might be because of the tumor on the bone fragments. Bones tells him about a zen poem that you will not find what you are looking for until you stop looking. They end up finding out that the fragments belong to a brother of a guy with a wood chipper and was murdered to have the house their mom left to his self. Bones ends up asking Booth to take a look at the file on her parents.

“Two Bodies in the Lab” - This episode begins with Bones instant messaging with an online friend, which ends in them agreeing to meet in person for the first time. A body for them to look at is suspected to be a mob boss. Another case is brought in involving a woman tortured and eaten by dogs. Booth has seen something similar before in a case the suspect got off with no charges. Bones arrives early to meet her date and ends up getting shot at in a drive by, although they totally miss hitting her. Booth is worried about Bones and does not want her to keep working on the cases that the shooter is expected to be a suspect in. Booth interrogates the man that was supposed to meet Bones for dinner and expects he is involved in Bones being shot at, but Bones does not think so. Booth reinvestigates the same suspect from the previous similar murder of a woman. Bones realizes the woman had her eyes gouged out with keys. Booth stays with Bones because he is still worried about her safety. A bomb goes off when Booth opens her fridge. Bones look at Booth’s x-rays and finds he had been beaten on his feet and also injuried protecting someone, who Booth reveals died when he was trying to protect him when he was in the army. Zack figures out which key from the suspect’s house gouged out the woman’s eyes. Booth and Hodgins realize that Bones is in trouble due to a mole that had been at the lab, which turns out to be the FBI agent working on the mob boss case. Hodgins checks Booth out of the hospital to go save Bones from the FBI agent who attempting to kill her like the found woman. Bones attacks the agent, but he still ends up trying her up. Just as the agent is about to kill her Booth shoots him and rescues Bones.

“Two Bodies in the Lab” Audio Commentary Version - This is a commentary with the actors that play Bones and Booth doing the commentary. This is a poor commentary in my opinion, as they just do not say much besides random banter like general watchers of the show might say as they watch an episode for the first time.

“The Woman in the Tunnel” - Booth, Bones, and Zack go into an underground tunnel to look at a body currently being eaten by rats. It turns out to be a woman that fell down a shaft into the tunnel. The woman had been working on a documentary about the “mole people” living in the tunnels. Bones and Booth finds some of the woman’s items in the possession of the so-called “mayor” of the mole people. Booth brings him in for questioning. A seal from a vault from a war department vault placed under the city from one of the unaccounted ones that might have cultural items still in it. Looking for the vault as the mayor points the way Bones and Booth find another body, which appears to be a Civil War era Union soldier. They find footage of the documentary the woman was working that had two climbers on it. They suspect that the climbers are in the underground looting the discovered vault. Booth and Bones go underground to try and find them before the loot is lost. Before Bones handcuffs the second climber the climber hits his friend on his head because he realizes it was him that killed the woman, which is something he did not know about.
