Bones Season 2 Disc 5 Wrap Up
This week’s TV on DVD Season I am going through and doing wrap ups of is the six disc Bones Season 2 set. I will be posting about one disc each day until this Saturday. This is the wrap up of the fifth disc.

“The Priest in the Churchyard” - A water main breaks at a church graveyard causing the caskets to come out of the ground. Bones finds a skull that was buried no more than 5 years ago and looks like foul play, especially since the last official burial in the graveyard was more than fifty years ago. Hodgins discovered that the water main was broken by a shovel. Booth and Bones interview the priests at the church. One is an old priest that has been there for decades and the other is a newer priest that the old one calls a hippie. Booth wants Bones to go see the shrink, Gordon, with him. Hodgins asks Angela to move in with him, but she brushes the question off. Cam informs them that they have to get shots because of a fungus found in the graveyard dirt that causes symptoms such as nausea. Booth and Bones meet with Gordon at the diner. Booth and Angela attend Sunday mass with a sketch and the body is identified as the priest that served the parish before the new guy, which everyone thought just disappeared with a note saying he was leaving the priesthood. They believe the priest was killed because he caught a grave robber. The fungus disease is rare enough that they tracked down one of the parishioners that was treated for it around the time the priest was killed. Hodgins and Angela have sex in a replica of Cleopatra’s bed. Many think the dead priest molested one of the altar boy’s, but the altar boy says the priest never touched him. The older priest also suspected the priest was molesting the altar boy. The murder weapon is found on the altar of the church, but it is Napoleanic and suspected to have originally been buried in the graveyard with a 1800s bishop. The dead priest was poisoned before being hit with the chalice. They think the current young priest is being poisoned as well. They suspect the older priest, but it turns out to be the assistant that the older priest raised since she was 12. She thought she was protecting the children from the two priests molesting them, but neither ever did and the older priest had tension with them only because of his pride and them being sent to replace him.
“The Killer in the Concrete” - A male body is found in the concrete in Baltimore. The body has evidence of bullet and stab wounds, but they were healed wounds. Angela takes Bones to the cemetery to have her honor the one year anniversary of burying Bones’ mother. Bones’ father shows up at the grave and she calls in a tip that him as a fugitive has been spotted. Later her father comes to talk to her at her apartment and uses a cell phone jammer to keep her from calling the cops. The body is of a crime boss. It appears he was killed by a criminal named Ice Pick, but that criminal was believed to be killed before the crime boss. The only piece of Ice Pick they have is a leg, which they discover was amputated, so he probably was still alive and could have committed the murder. Booth finds Ice Pick by following a tip from Bones’ father about Ice Pick liking model airplanes. Ice Pick knocks Booth out, wrap him in a rug, and tapes it up with Booth’s heat and feet sticking out. Bones’ father keeps trying to talk to Bones about her mother. When Booth is missing for 18 hours Bones asks her father to help find Booth. Hodgins finds where Booth is being held using the particles on the concrete body’s shoes. Bones and her father rescue Booth as the FBI back up arrives. Her father escapes the FBI by taking Bones car, which she purposely left the keys in.
“Spaceman in a Crater” - A body is found that fell from the air into a field. The bones appear to be 130 years old, but they assume that it is an astronaut. Booth and Bones talk to one of the astronaut’s colleagues while on a weightless plane training exercise. They learn that the dead astronaut was working with an aeronautical engineering company. The head of the company says that the astronaut backed out of working with them. The wife reveals that the astronaut was convinced that he saw a UFO while on his last mission and NASA tried to get him to not share about his experience. In the leg bone they find some sort of odd implant, which turns out to be coral put in as an experimental program to combat the bone loss that occurs from space travel. They find out that the experiment took place without the agency’s knowledge and in Haiti. The experiment was working and that he was going to take the place of another astronaut and during a confrontation with the astronaut he would take the place of if he was healthy enough and the astronaut’s wife the dead astronaut backed into an idle plane propeller. Hodgins proposes to Angela, but she says not now.
“The Glowing Bones in the Old Stone House” - A body with glowing bones is found and Bones and Booth go to the scene wearing radiation suits because they think the glowing is due to radiation. The sensors end up sensing normal levels of radiation around the body and the stone house it is found in. Cam rehydrates the woman’s finger and identifies her as a host of a cooking show and a restaurant with famous mac & cheese. Booth and Bones go to the restaurant to talk to the woman’s husband and find out that the woman’s friend is also missing. They find that the woman had a restraining order out against her husband. The friend is found barely alive in the trunk of her car. The semen and vaginal fluid in the back of the car suggest the woman was raped by the friend that survived’s boyfriend before being killed. It turns out the woman was having an affair with her friend’s boyfriend and her friend killed her for that and set it up to seem like she was attacked as well. Hogdins spells Be My Love in glowing shrimp and Angela asks him to marry her. She wants him to marry her in one week. Bones makes Booth the famous mac and cheese with her own flair.
“The Glowing Bones in the Old Stone House” Audio Commentary Version - This is a decent commentary of the actor that plays Bones, the director, and the executive producer. It is good because they are actually talking about this specific episode. The season 1 commentary with the Bones actor and Booth was downright poor, but it works much better with her with the behind the camera people. By the way the commentary gives some spoilers that mostly come out in the final episode of the season, which is on the final disc, so you may want to watch that episode before this commentary.
