They find the rest of Angela’s boyfriend’s body and his camera. The sheriff suspects Angela and reluctantly lets her develop her boyfriend’s film. They find the actual murder site further in the desert where the body was driven to a plane and then dropped where it was found in the desert. It seems related to drug smuggling. NCIS Season 1 Disc 6 Wrap Up

Saturday, June 6th, 2009

This week’s TV on DVD Season I am going through and doing wrap ups of is the six disc NCIS Season 1 set. This is the wrap up of the sixth and final disc.

“Split Decision” - Some teenagers find a dead body when doing a human slingshot stunt. The body has a hole in it with a wood piece through it, but Ducky does not think the wood formed the hole. The hole was created by an anti-tank missile. In autopsy Palmer (I think this is his first appearance in NCIS) annoys Ducky by repeating everything Ducky says into a recorder and then his cell phone continuously ringing. Tony is surprised that Gibbs lets McGee use his computer (remember McGee is not a true member of the team until the second season). The dead marine was a staff sargeant in charge of weapons inventory at Quantico and was also a boxer. Tony and Kate search the marine’s apartment. Kate finds the harddrive of his computer has been reformatted. Abby is able to get the data back from the harddrive. Tony goes undercover to a pawn shop as a weapons dealer, as they suspect that the dead marine was selling weapons to the pawn shop. The woman at the pawn shop is suspicious and as she is getting the money to buy the weapons he identifies himself as NCIS and she identifies herself as ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms). Gibbs has Abby make him an arms dealer cover id. Gibbs and the ATF agent meet up with the militia group that was buying the weapons by pretending to be an arms dealer. The militia gets mad when the guns do not work and shoot Gibbs in the chest. The ATF agent then makes a call and Kate and McGee arrest a woman boxer that worked with the marine. Gibbs being shot was a set up with the militia men helping them also get the ATF agent, as she was also involved in the selling of the weapons.

When they go to interview him at his school, the teen beams the contact info for the doorman to Kate’s PDA. Searching the petty officer’s room they find cash in his stereo speakers. Gibbs and Abby have an interesting conversation about fetishes to try to explain the latex and baby powder found on the man. The petty officer was killed by being run down with a car. Kate and Tony bring in the four that went to the night club with the petty officer. Gibbs interviews them and the tell them that the petty officer left the club with a girl. Tony and Kate interview the bouncer and learn that the petty officer never left the club and it was one of his friends that left with a girl. They suspect the Master Chief was getting kickbacks from a contract and the petty officer was blackmailing him to keep it secret and that explains the money found in the stereo. In a abandoned lot they find evidence that the three along with the petty officer filmed the Wong making out with a call girl they set him up with. They find out that the petty officer was run over by Wong when the petty officer pranked him dressed up as an alien. The call girl messes up the story of it being an accident by saying that Wong knew it was his friend. The episode ends with Gibbs sitting and watching the search trying to identify who Ari is.

It turns out to be a place with no windows and the sniper only removed the one brick he needed to. While they interview a possible Marine sniper suspect another Marine recruiter was shot. The FBI and NCIS have jurisdiction issues with the second murder taking place in a second state. Tony and Gibbs create a distraction while Kate gets the bullet out of the wall and then they leave the scene to the FBI to deal with. Before leaving the scene, though, Gibbs finds a feather that seems to be the snipers signature. Tony and Kate go back to the first crime scene and find another feather. Gibbs and Kate go undercover taking over one of the recruitment offices. It turns out to be the water delivery guy. They figure out a little too late, though, and the sniper fires, but the new glass they put in is bulletproof and also special technology that located the sniper’s nest. This week’s TV on DVD Season I am going through and doing wrap ups of is the six disc NCIS Season 1 set. I will be posting about one disc each day until this Saturday. This is the wrap up of the third disc.

“Marine Down” - This episode begins with a marine’s wife getting a phone call from her husband while mourning his death after his funeral. Tony and Kate practice at hostage situation shooting. Gibbs tapes Tony’s hat and Kate’s palm pilot to the hostage image and both end up with bullets through their items they really care about. The team ends up looking into the death of the marine that called and the other marine that supposedly died with him. An imposter commanding officer tells them that the two were murdered by a prostitute. Kate ends up sketching the imposter after Tony and her cannot agree when they try to create the likeness using software with Abby. Tony then finds her sketches of him and Abby in her sketchbook. A tape of the believed to be dead marine leaving a message on a friend’s answering machine is found and proves to be him. However, when they open the casket it ends up being the dead marine. Ducky has trouble telling when and how the marine died. The same imposter poses as Tony and interrogates the other dead marine’s wife. It turns out the imposter is a CIA agent. It turns out that the CIA agent took the money for the two marines ransom and was involved in a cover up. Kate, Tony, and Gibbs fly on a cargo plane to Colombia to hopefully find the other marine still alive. To rescue the marine Kate and Tony end up having to shoot the CIA agent while missing the marine hostage much like the beginning scenes of them practicing and again Tony hits the hostage’s ear, but at least they save him. In the end Gibbs gets into the convertible driven by the mysterious redhead that I do not think we ever find out about who she really is before she just stops appearing in the show.

“The Curse” - In this episode a mummified body of a Navy Lieutenant Commander is found in a drop tank. The mummy had been reported missing and charged with stealing $1.2 million from the ship’s safe in 1994. In this episode it was revealed that four years before Gibbs third wife hit him in the head with a baseball bat and Ducky stitched him up. There is also a scene with Gibbs having trouble reading the case file from 1994 showing that he is farsighted, which is something Tony then gives him trouble about throughout the rest of the episode. Gibbs and Abby also share a joke about Tony using sign language after Tony contemplates aloud that it would have been an awesome ride in the pod if the Lieutenant has still been alive. Kate makes a reference to a the movie, Bounce, in this episode.

NCIS Season 1 Disc 1 Wrap Up

Monday, June 1st, 2009

This week’s TV on DVD Season I am going through and doing wrap ups of is the six disc NCIS Season 1 set. I will be posting about one disc each day until this Saturday. NCIS is one of my favorite television shows and I really like rewatching the show because the main characters have such interesting interactions.

Yankee White - Unlike most series the first episode actually has a name and is not just boringly called pilot. Then again unlike most series its pilot episodes were part of another series (JAG). In this episode the football carrier (I still never really fully understood what this role really is) dies on Air Force One after dining with the President. Thus introduces the beginning of jurisdiction issues that often come up in the show, including introducing Fornell from the FBI, who has been a slightly regular character since then. This episode introduces Agent Todd, as a Secret Service agent. Ducky has a county coroner stall the FBI and Secret Service until NCIS gets to Wichita. Gibbs then has them slickly take over the case and fly the body back to D.C. They further trick the FBI from getting the body by having Tony pose as the dead body as NCIS takes the real deal body to their labs. This episode has Gibbs making several references to the Harrison Ford movie, Air Force One, which nowadays seems kind of odd because by now I always think of Tony has being the character that makes movie references. This episode also has Gibbs telling Todd the first three rules and a fourth unnumbered one she doesn’t have to crochet. At the end of the episode it introduces the mysterious red haired woman picking up Gibbs and Gibbs working on his boat.
