House M.D. Season 1 Disc 3 Side B Wrap Up

Saturday, June 20th, 2009

This week’s TV on DVD Season I am going through and doing wrap ups of is the three two-sided disc House, M.D. Season 1 set. This wrap up is of the content on Side B of Disc 3.

House, M.D. Season 1

“Three Stories” - House’s ex-girlfriend Stacy comes to see him to ask House to take on her husband as a case. House gives a lecture because another doctor is sick. He comes up with three cases involving leg pain. One is a farmer with pain in his leg. The class fails at first because they do not first come up with the idea of looking at the leg. A snake bite wound is found on the leg. The second is a 16-year-old female volleyball player. The patient has tendonitis and it leads them to a nodule. The third is a male golfer that wants pain meds. A rattlesnake is found by Chase and Foreman on the farm and Cameron gives the farmer the antivenom. The man then has an allergic reaction. The volleyball player also has a thyroid condition. It turns out they were wrong about what type of snake bit the farmer. So, they give them the antivenom for another snake common in New Jersey. The drug addict golfer comes back saying his leg hurts. They do a urine test by putting a catheter in, which supposedly proves that he really is sick and not just an addict. The volleyball player is not responding to treatment. She is hypersensitive to touch while Cameron is trying to draw blood. Nothing is working for the farmer. The drug addict has blood in his urine. The farmer wants to go home now that he knows he is dying and worries about his dog. It turns out that it was his dog that bit him. Back to the man with leg pain with blood in his urine. The students cannot figure out the brown in the urine is for and Cameron pops in and suggest muscle death. He then slips back to the girl getting an MRI because the case with the man was not treated for muscle death until three days later when the patient suggested muscle death (i.e. this is House’s personal story). Bone cancer is found in the girl’s leg and they might have to amputate the leg. The farmer also might have to have the leg removed because of the flesh eating disease from the dog bite. House also gets the diagnosis they might have to lose his leg, but he refuses to lose his leg. He has them do a by pass instead of amputation. The by pass and muscle death being left led to the pain he might have for the rest of his life. House predicts his going into cardiac arrest. House’s ex tries to convince him to give up his leg. He asks to be put in a chemically induced coma to sleep through the worst of the pain. Once in a coma it is her call as his medical proxy. She gives the okay to have the muscle death removed as the middle ground option. In the end he calls his ex and says he will take a look at her husband the next day.

House, M.D. Season 1

“Pilot” - A teacher collapses in a seizure in front of her class. Wilson tries to convince House to take the case by saying it is his cousin. House thinks it is too boring of a case and is probably just brain cancer. Talking with his team House says they are doctors to treat illnesses and not patients and that he does not see patients because they lie and so he does not have to lie. Cuddy approaches House about not doing his job (i.e. clinic hours and being six years behind on his duties). After she pulls his authorization for doing things like MRIs he folds to doing clinic hours, although he does not plan on being caught up until 2054. The patient goes into anaphylactic shock while they are doing the MRI. The patient loses her eyesight before having another seizure. House decides to have them stop all treatment in order to figure out how fast she is dying to figure out what of there three theories might be right. House suspects that the patient has a tape worm. The patient does not want any more treatment and would rather go home to die. NCIS Season 1 Disc 6 Wrap Up

This week’s TV on DVD Season I am going through and doing wrap ups of is the six disc NCIS Season 1 set. This is the wrap up of the sixth and final disc.

“Split Decision” - Some teenagers find a dead body when doing a human slingshot stunt. The body has a hole in it with a wood piece through it, but Ducky does not think the wood formed the hole. The hole was created by an anti-tank missile. In autopsy Palmer (I think this is his first appearance in NCIS) annoys Ducky by repeating everything Ducky says into a recorder and then his cell phone continuously ringing. Tony is surprised that Gibbs lets McGee use his computer (remember McGee is not a true member of the team until the second season). The dead marine was a staff sargeant in charge of weapons inventory at Quantico and was also a boxer. Tony and Kate search the marine’s apartment. Kate finds the harddrive of his computer has been reformatted. Abby is able to get the data back from the harddrive. Tony goes undercover to a pawn shop as a weapons dealer, as they suspect that the dead marine was selling weapons to the pawn shop. The woman at the pawn shop is suspicious and as she is getting the money to buy the weapons he identifies himself as NCIS and she identifies herself as ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms). Gibbs has Abby make him an arms dealer cover id. Gibbs and the ATF agent meet up with the militia group that was buying the weapons by pretending to be an arms dealer. The militia gets mad when the guns do not work and shoot Gibbs in the chest. The ATF agent then makes a call and Kate and McGee arrest a woman boxer that worked with the marine. Gibbs being shot was a set up with the militia men helping them also get the ATF agent, as she was also involved in the selling of the weapons.

Tony and Kate interview the bouncer and learn that the petty officer never left the club and it was one of his friends that left with a girl. In a abandoned lot they find evidence that the three along with the petty officer filmed the Wong making out with a call girl they set him up with. They find out that the petty officer was run over by Wong when the petty officer pranked him dressed up as an alien. It turns out to be a place with no windows and the sniper only removed the one brick he needed to. While they interview a possible Marine sniper suspect another Marine recruiter was shot. The FBI and NCIS have jurisdiction issues with the second murder taking place in a second state. Tony and Gibbs create a distraction while Kate gets the bullet out of the wall and then they leave the scene to the FBI to deal with. Before leaving the scene, though, Gibbs finds a feather that seems to be the snipers signature. Tony and Kate go back to the first crime scene and find another feather. Gibbs and Kate go undercover taking over one of the recruitment offices. It turns out to be the water delivery guy. They figure out a little too late, though, and the sniper fires, but the new glass they put in is bulletproof and also special technology that located the sniper’s nest. An imposter commanding officer tells them that the two were murdered by a prostitute. Kate ends up sketching the imposter after Tony and her cannot agree when they try to create the likeness using software with Abby. Tony then finds her sketches of him and Abby in her sketchbook. A tape of the believed to be dead marine leaving a message on a friend’s answering machine is found and proves to be him. However, when they open the casket it ends up being the dead marine. Ducky has trouble telling when and how the marine died. The same imposter poses as Tony and interrogates the other dead marine’s wife. It turns out the imposter is a CIA agent. It turns out that the CIA agent took the money for the two marines ransom and was involved in a cover up. Kate, Tony, and Gibbs fly on a cargo plane to Colombia to hopefully find the other marine still alive. To rescue the marine Kate and Tony end up having to shoot the CIA agent while missing the marine hostage much like the beginning scenes of them practicing and again Tony hits the hostage’s ear, but at least they save him. In the end Gibbs gets into the convertible driven by the mysterious redhead that I do not think we ever find out about who she really is before she just stops appearing in the show.
