Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Season 7 Four Part Collectible DVD Set Releases May 12, 2009

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

tmnt_sidebysideIn honor of this year being the 25th anniversary of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles season 7 of the show is being released in four parts. The four parts are each being individually released on May 12, 2009. Normally I am not into seasons being released in parts, but I know to expect that from kids television shows. It still seems like a rip off way of doing it, but at least this time I feel it was tastefully done with the whole season being released on the same day and each part having a special feature.

What really makes it being a four part set acceptable for this release is that they have made it so when you line the four up it creates a roof top season with the four turtles and each part comes with a small action figure of the turtle on that part’s package. This makes it a fun collectible set while also satisfying those that buy shows just to rewatch favorite shows and get some bonus footage. Best part is that they are not too highly priced per part like some partial season releases are. They are marked as $14.99 each on Amazon with a current sale price of $9.99 each, which makes it as a whole not much different than a single complete season release.

The four parts are Part 1: The Leonardo Slice with 6 episodes, Part 2: The Michelangelo Slice with 7 episodes, Part 3: The Donatello Slice with 7 episodes, and Part 4: The Rafael Slice with 7 episodes. The extra for Part 1 is A Shellebration with Points of Articulation: A Look Back at the Most Turtletastic Toys. The extra for Part 2 is A Shellebration of the Turtles Creation: New Interviews with TMNT Creators. The extra for Part 3 is A Shellebration of the TV Sensation: New Interviews with the Hit Show’s Creative Team. The extra for Part 4 is A Shellebration of a Fan-Nomenon Sensation: Devoted and Die-Hard TMNT Fans Speak.

Come back each day for the next four days to learn more about each part, as I will be reviewing one part a day starting tomorrow. Also check out the DVDs official site here to play with a fun widget that says some of the trademark phrases from the show.

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

This week’s TV on DVD Season I am going through and doing wrap ups of is the six disc Everwood Season 1 set. I will be posting about one disc each day until this Saturday. This is a wrap up the episodes and special features on the second disc.

Everwood Season 1

“”Deer God” - They come home to a deer in the house. Andy finally gets it out of the house, but it still hangs out on the front porch. Delia gets in a argument at school defending her belief that God exists and at the same time learns about Hanukkah for the first time despite being half Jewish. Ephraim refuses to let the animal control take the deer because they were going to drop her off at a hunting area. Instead he plans to take the deer back to the nature reserve it came from. Andy ends up letting Ephraim do it, but only with him. Together they trek many miles. They end up going in a circle and back where Irv dropped them off. Edna tries to help Delia with her trying to figure out if God is real by taking her to see a rabbi in the Army. It turns out the reserve is destroyed. Ephraim finally asks his dad to take a look at Colin for Amy. Delia finds proof God exists because Edna and her arrive home after riding 80 miles on fumes.

In Treatment - This release is a 9 disc set of the first 43 episodes in the series that was adapted from the popular Israeli series created by Hagai Levi.

Room 222: Season 1: This release is of the 1969 teenage drama show that dealt with issues such as prejudice and drugs. The bonus features include “Forty Years On” with interviews with the creators and cast.

Runaway: The Complete Series - The Complete Series also makes things sound impressive, but with this show it is only nine episodes. Time Between Dog and Wolf - This release is of a show (Korean?) about a Korean National Intelligence Service agent going under cover in the Thai underworld.

Top 5 Most Popular TV DVDs

Monday, October 27th, 2008

51PpJAOkqLL__SL160_

The top 5 most popular TV shows this week at Amazon are:

True Blood - I haven’t seen any of this series yet but I’ve been told it is suppose to be really good. It is currently on HBO for those of you that want to watch it, it began airing September 7th at 9 p.m.  For those that aren’t aware this t.v. series is based off the book series, "Sookie Stackhouse" by Charlaine Harris, which means it is bound to be good. There’s even going to be a season two so there is definitely time to get into it. (this is more your vampire story)

Indiana Jones-  I’ve commented below on why this would be a hit. But for those that don’t know…Indiana Jones is always finding himself getting tossed into adventures where he has to save someone, most of the time himself included. But in the end he always finds the treasure…or does he?

Star Wars Trilogy-  This is just one of those that’ll always be loved, with the new tv cartoon Star Wars Clone Wars I can imagine why this got hot.

Dexter: Season 3-  Dexter’s girlfriend, Rita, will find out she’s pregnant and ask him what she should do. Will they keep the baby? Of course everyone will be

Family Guy 100th Episode Gags

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

Ever wonder what goes on behind the scenes of some movies/tv shows? Family Guy likes to gather everyone around the table before they tape their gags to see if they work. Follow along and get the feel for the actual family.

David A Goodman, executive producer for Family Guy discusses the gags. One instance is the war gag and the night before they were to put it in there was a lot of discussion on whether or not it should be added. Many are happy it was added, after all its Family Guy and great for laughs, especially for Peter.

What’s your favorite Family Guy episode?

Disney’s The Princess and the Frog Trailer

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Disney has just released the trailer for their upcoming movie, “The Princess and the Frog.” This is a cute little trailer of the Princess trying as hard as she can to kiss the frog, the only problem is its a frog. Ewww gross. She tries his head, but he doesn’t approve, his cheek but still now.

For those that don’t know The Princess Tiana is an American Fairy tale set in New Orleans during the 20s, aka, Jazz age. Many are excited as this is Disney’s very first Black Disney Princess.  It was just earlier this year that actress, Angelina Jolie would ask, “Where are Disney’s Black Princesses?” do to her own little girl, Z wanting to be a princess. It looks like her wish was granted. (the movie was already being made)

The Princess and the Frog does not come out until 2009, but I’m sure many will be waiting to watch more trailers as well as stay in very long lines to see it.

Harry Potter: Half-blood Prince Trailer

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Harry Potter 6- The Half-Blood Prince is about to come out and the trailer is ready for all to see. Are you ready?

Will the trailer give anything away, no, not unless you’ve read the book. Keep in mind this is the gang’s sixth year of being at the school. You’ll see Harry approach the cauldron, see Dumbledore. Ginny staring at Harry during their meals, Ron with a girl and much more.

There are no words, just images that flash. Watch as Hermoine shakes her head no and look as if she were crying. Someone (child-like) boating out of a cave. A fight with wands, Snape talking to someone outside the school. A giant face hovers above the school. Will this be the best Harry Potter movie yet?

Horton has already made over $125,000 in theaters and the DVD sales are yet to come.

Donna’s prom night is anything but fun when a pyscho from her past is out of prison and makes her and her friends the target of his obsession.
