TV DVDs are up to 60% off at Amazon

Wednesday, December 12th, 2007

882595_sale.jpgAmazon.com is having a big sale on some of our favorite titles on DVD. Right now you can find most seasons of Smallville and Veronica Mars for only $14.99 each, most seasons of Gilmore Girls for $23.99, most Friends seasons for $17.49 and most of Full House for $16.99 each. I also saw titles like The Sopranos, Big Love, Entourage, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Extras, The O.C. and more in there.

There are dozens more titles in the TV department, plus sales on BBC titles, movies and more. Prices start as low as $3.99!

In that $5.49 and under section I saw several TV collection DVDs (not full seasons but collections of several epidoses). Some of the collection titles were Maverick, Alice, Friends, Night Court and F Troop. There may be others as well.

These would make great stocking stuffers…but at these prices, you may need a bigger stocking!

Huge TV on DVD Sales at Amazon

Wednesday, November 7th, 2007

882595_sale.jpgAmazon has all kinds of DVD specials in their Television Central store.

First, there are over 100 TV DVDs on sale right now at 50% off. Titles include Bones, Boston Legal, That 70’s Show, Firefly, Futurama, WKRP, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Bob Newhart Show, Picket Fences, Hill Street Blues and many, many more. Prices start at just $4.99.

They also have first seasons of some of your favorite TV classics. Included in this selection are Leave it to Beaver, Magnum PI, Murder She Wrote and one of my old favorites, The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries.

And finally, they have the TV Stock Up Sale, which features shows like Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, One Day at a Time and Who’s the Boss - just to name a few. All of these sets are priced under $25!

And don’t forget, that BBC sale I told you about is still going on.

You might want to stock up on a few of these so you’ll have something to watch if the TV writers don’t reach a settlement soon!

BBC Titles on Sale

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

51S3MS46DPL__AA240_.jpgI recommend you check out the British titles on sale right now at Amazon.com. If you haven’t seen some of these shows, you are really missing out. Some of my favorite shows come from across the pond! I told you last week how I love The Vicar of Dibley. Also on my list of favorites:

Sci-fi meets Sitcom in Red Dwarf, the story of the last human being alive and his not-quite human friends who are stranded on a mining ship millions of light years away.

The brilliant John Cleese in the equally brilliant Fawlty Towers is another don’t miss. Fawlty Towers is the story of Basil Fawlty and his wife Sybil and their hotel filled with unbelievably quirky characters. This show is double you over funny!

Coupling (which stars Jack Davenport from Pirates of the Caribbean), a four season show which is the ultimate in naughty hilarity. It is billed as a show about “nothing but sex” and that description fits it to a T.

Chef! starring Lenny Henry is another brilliant show. Lenny stars as Gareth Blackstock, the brilliant yet ill-tempered chef at Le Chateau Anglais. Though it may not sound like much, this show is outstanding and amazingly funny. Lenny Henry is unmatched (except maybe by his real-life wife, Dawn French)!

These are just a few of my favorites. Others you might enjoy are The Office (on which the American show is based), The Black Adder, the long-running Are You Being Served and As Time Goes By - just to name a few. Go ahead! Don’t be scared to try something new!

Amazon Sci-Fi DVD Sale - Classic TV!

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

51GV5WNZTKL__AA240_.jpgAmazon is having a 50% off Sci-fi sale, and while many of the selections are theatrical releases, I found several classic TV shows on there as well.

Two of my all-time favorite mini-series are on the list: The Towering Inferno ($10.49) and The Martian Chronicles ($7.49). I watched both of these as a kid and, at these prices, I am seriously considering purchasing them for my collection. I also spotted The Outer Limits Season 1, Vol 1 and Season 1, Vol 2 as well as the pilot movie of Stargate Atlantis, “Rising”.

If Sci-fi’s not your thing, they have several other sales going on, like 50% off multi-season sets; 50% off sports movies; a sale on Halloween Horror flicks; and an “Edgy Romance” Sale (whatever that is).

61C7n48_2BUeL__SS500_.jpgWell if you do, Amazon has a bundle for you. For that pawltry sum you can get a bundle of DVDs to keep you swimming in sci-fi favorites for years to come. The bundle includes all of the following:

  • Buffy the Vampire Slayer- The Collector’s Set
  • Angel - The Collector’s Set
  • Stargate SG-1 - All 10 Season Sets
  • Stargate: Atlantis - Season 1 through 3
  • The Pretender - All 4 Seasons plus the TV Movie
  • Firefly - The Complete Series
  • Roswell - Seasons 1 through 3
  • Dark Angel - Seasons 1 and 2 (complete series)
  • The X-Files - The Complete Collector’s Edition

The set has a suggested price of $1,756.46, but Amazon is offering it up for a mere $899.99 right now. Some of these items are pre-orders, like the X-Files and Angel collectors sets, so the item won’t ship until November 6.  I’m sure this is an awesome deal if you’ve got the spare cash laying around, but I’m afraid my pockets are empty so I’ll have to pass.
