CSI Season 1 Disc 4 Wrap Up

by

This week’s TV on DVD Season I am going through and doing wrap ups of is the six disc CSI Season 1 set. I will be posting about one disc each day until this Saturday. Today’s post is a wrap up of the episodes on disc 4.

CSI Season 1

“Boom” - In the beginning of this episode a bomb explodes in a lobby killing a security guard and injuring a few others. Nick ends up helping the hooker Christine for the third time this season. He gives her a ride home and she asks him in for a drink. Grissom ends up having the security guard that had just left before the bomb went off help them figure out who set the bomb even though he kind of suspects him. Nick is about to meet up with Christine to grab a bite to eat, but instead finds out she is dead. He is somewhat of a suspect because his fingerprints and DNA are at her house because he had sex with her the night before. Warrick tries to figure out what tool engraved the FP on part of the bomb while Sara and Grissom blow up bombs to find out what type of pipe was used. They end up arresting the security guard, although they do not quite believe he is guilty. They free him when a second bomb goes off and proves he could not have done it. The guy Nick had rescued Christine from ends up saying he saw Nick being violent. Catherine works the case for 12 hours to try to prevent Nick from being arrested for the murder. In the bomb case they arrest a disgruntled former employee of Thrift Rite, which was connected to both bomb locations. Catherine finds the murder weapon and matches the DNA on it to the guy that said he saw Nick kill her. It turns out the disgruntled former employee’s son planted the bombs and in the end the other security guard dies trying to take the last bomb out of a school.

“To Halve and To Hold” - This episode begins with a boy’s dog finding a bone in the desert. Grissom is hesitant to call in an old friend, Terry, who is a forensic anthropologist. Grissom and Catherine lead a team search for other bones that belonged to the body. Warrick and Sara work a scene with a man dead in a motel room. It turns out he was the stripper for a bachelorette party. Catherine, Grissom, and Nick put the bones found together back at the lab. Catherine ends up calling in Terry anyways and Grissom gets a little annoyed, as he had a past relationship with her. Brass finds the murder weapon/what was used to slice the bones found in the desert in the widow’s house when they search it. The widow tries to explain why she sawed him up. She says she did it after he was dead because she could not afford the funeral. She also had been cashing her dead husband’s social security checks. They end up finding an overdose of a drug in her husband’s system. It turns out he took the overdose himself or at least they end up ruling in favor of that concept because they cannot prove who administered the drug overdose. In the case Warrick and Sara work they find out the bride to be had sex with the stripper and hit him on the head when she wanted to stop having sex with the man and then the to be husband ended up killing him because he saw them having sex.

“Table Stakes” - This episode begins with scenes of a charity party and a body being found in the pool. Nick, Catherine, Warrick, and Grissom work the scene. Warrick goes in the pool to get a cuff link with the initials CM. Warrick works another scene on his own with a man shot several times in an elevator. Sara is annoyed for being called in on her day off and tired for not getting any sleep. Grissom and Catherine end up walking in on a couple having sex in the house where the body was found in a pool that was supposed to be a sealed off crime scene. This couple is supposedly house sitting for the owner, Portia, but Grissom and Catherine begin to think Portia has not gone on the supposed cruise and they then find a tooth that may be Portia’s and point to her being murdered. Warrick keeps ending up with dead ends in the elevator case. The rest of the team besides Grissom ends up discussing their case over lunch while Grissom is following some of his own lead ideas. It turns out that the woman part of the posing couple killed the woman in the pool and they both were involved in killing Portia. The episode ends with Warrick trying to avoid the temptation of gambling.

“Too Tough to Die” - This episode begins with a woman being kidnapped from a parking garage and then dumped in the desert. She is found barely alive on the side of the road. Warrick and Catherine end up having to work a case about to go to trial and the DA wants help and the day CSI originally working it quit. Sara collects the evidence off the woman in a coma in the hospital. The casings found were matched to a prior gang shooting. Catherine and Warrick try to find a screwdriver that has gone missing from the evidence in the case they are looking at. The victim becomes special to Sara and Grissom talks to her about needing a diversion (his is riding roller coasters) not police related or else all the victims will become special and she will get burnt out. Catherine and Warrick figure out the case using a dummy. Grissom has dogs find the person who left the woman to die based on a belt loop the woman pulled off the guy.
