Everwood Season 1 Disc 2 Wrap Up

by

This week’s TV on DVD Season I am going through and doing wrap ups of is the six disc Everwood Season 1 set. I will be posting about one disc each day until this Saturday. This is a wrap up the episodes and special features on the second disc.

Everwood Season 1

“”Deer God” - They come home to a deer in the house. Andy finally gets it out of the house, but it still hangs out on the front porch. Delia gets in a argument at school defending her belief that God exists and at the same time learns about Hanukkah for the first time despite being half Jewish. Ephraim refuses to let the animal control take the deer because they were going to drop her off at a hunting area. Instead he plans to take the deer back to the nature reserve it came from. Andy ends up letting Ephraim do it, but only with him. Together they trek many miles. They end up going in a circle and back where Irv dropped them off. Edna tries to help Delia with her trying to figure out if God is real by taking her to see a rabbi in the Army. It turns out the reserve is destroyed. Ephraim finally asks his dad to take a look at Colin for Amy. Delia finds proof God exists because Edna and her arrive home after riding 80 miles on fumes.

“The Doctor Is In” - The Shrinkmobile arrives in town for its apparent a few time a year visit. Andy meets with Colin’s parents to discuss the possibility of surgery to bring Colin out of the coma. Delia gets caught playing dress up with the male friend and his mother refuses to let them hang out anymore despite the idea being the boy’s. Andy does not want to do the surgery because he thinks it is too risky, which Ephraim does not understand because the old Andy would never turn down a long shot odds opportunity. Edna reveals to Andy that Delia’s friend was born with ambiguous genitalia and his parent’s are set on raising him male even though now the kid is playing like a girl and they do not want to raise their child like that. Andy and Delia go to the school’s recital that Ephraim is playing the piano for and Amy is supposed to dance in. Colin’s mom brings Amy flowers before the recital as Colin would have done and Amy breaks down and her dad carries her out. Andy goes to confront Delia’s friend’s parents. They are sending him off to an all boys school, but Andy convinces the mom to let Delia and the kid see each other one last time. Delia does not want to make new friends because she is tired of saying good bye to people. Doctor Abbott reveals to Andy that in the first episode when Andy recognized Doctor Abbott he really did because they once worked at the same hospital for residency, where Doctor Abbott failed to become a surgeon. In this conversation he tries to convince Andy to do the operation on Colin. Ephraim writes a song for Amy and shares it with her. He originally wrote it in honor of her first solo and was going to share it with her at the recital.

“We Hold These Truths” - The episodes starts with a flashback of Amy, Colin, and Bright hanging out on what I think is the 4th of July and the day he ended up getting in the coma. The flashback includes her telling him she loves him and him not giving a response back. Andy decides to do the surgery for Colin. He flies in his old assistant, who brings things of New York (mostly food) for Ephraim and Delia. Bright’s flashback memory is to him wearing a Revolutionary ruffle outfit on Independence Day and Colin giving him some hard liquor. It is revealed that Andy’s wife used to make mix tapes for the surgeries and his assistant brought some of the old ones, but Ephraim has made him a new CD for this surgery. Another flashback to Independence Day shows Colin and Bright drinking again and Amy confronting Colin about him not saying anything back when she told him she loved him. In yet another flashback Colin and Bright are seen leaving the Independence Day festivities to go offroading in Colin’s dad’s new truck. Andy discovers there is a second bone chip in Colin’s brain and the surgery is going to take longer than expected. A flashback reveals that Colin convinced Bright to take a turn driving the truck. Ephraim ends up going to the hospital to be a friend for Amy during the surgery. As complications happen in the surgery scenes of Bright driving are seen and in the end it was Bright who caused the crash and he remembers and has been lying about it saying Colin was driving. Bright tells his dad the truth and then he goes to Denver to tell Colin’s parents the truth. The surgery ends up being successful at least in that the bone fragments are out and Colin is still alive.

“Till Death Do Us Part” - Andy takes Delia to church for the first time because she wanted to go. He is obviously just as lost as she is in what goes on in church. The next day is Andy’s wedding anniversary. He gets a call from a travel agency about a trip that his wife must have made plans for before her death. Andy tries to help a the minister deal with hives that appear to be related to when he has intercourse with his wife. Ephraim and his class end up stuck at the mine they are at for a field trip due to a storm, which leaves Andy alone on what would have been his 20th wedding anniversary. Andy gets the tickets for the trip to Florence that his wife planned for their anniversary. Ephraim gets in a fight with someone that plays a prank on Amy while they are still at the mine. Andy figures out why the minister is getting hives, but it is too late and the minister and his wife are going to get a divorce. Colin wakes up from his coma. Ephraim and Delia give Andy an anniversary present, which is a real doctor’s bag. Amy goes to see Colin. Colin does not recognize her, though.
