This week’s TV on DVD Season I am going through and doing wrap ups of is the three two-sided disc House, M.D. Season 1 set. I will be posting about one side of a disc each day until this Saturday. This wrap up is of the content on Side A of Disc 3.

“Role Model” - An African American Senator running for President vomits and collapses after a speech. Volger asks House to do a talk about a new drug being much better and to diagnosis the Senator or fire one of his team. While looking at the Senator Foreman notices that the Senator lacks reflexes when they tap his knee. Thus the issue appears to be in his brain. The Senator begins to stutter. They think that he has AIDS, but the Senator refuses that diagnosis. The test confirms he has AIDS. The anti-retrovirals are not working, though. It turns out the first AIDS test was a false positive. The Senator’s breathing than seriously fails. It seems that he has some sort of fungus. House finds out that when the Senator was younger he had a seizure when he was 6 and was on meds for the seizures until he was 10. The med is know to have caused a disease, which House thinks presented itself with the recent stress of the campaign. When House gets up to do the speech to promote the new drug, he says the drug is pretty much the same as the old version and not that much better. Cameron then decides to leave, so House does not have to choose who to fire.
“Babies & Bathwater” - A pregnant woman black outs briefly while driving and when the police man has her get out of the car she collapses. She has trouble swallowing. Chase thinks it is preclamsia. They find a tumor in her lungs. She does not want to do the radiation treatment because it will kill the baby. Volger tries to get the board to get rid of House and if they do not he will leave along with his $100 million donation. Wilson is the vote to not fire House and Volger next votes on whether to dismiss Wilson. The woman does not want to have a C-section because she is not happy with the odds for her baby. Wilson gets sacked. House finds out that the woman had a first child that was a sick one that died of infantile Alexander’s disease after 2 years. She does not want to deal with the possibility of a sick child due to premature birth. House schedules surgery for an experimental treatment and it is about to take place, but Vogler cancels it. A clot reaches the woman’s lung. While they go in to remove the clot, she bleeds into her abdomen. House talks to the husband about there being nothing to do for his wife, but they can possibly save the baby. They get the baby out and while Chase tries to get him to breath the mother goes into cardiac arrest. Just as the mom flatlines the baby starts to cry. Cuddy saves Wilson’s job and House’s team’s job by getting rid of Vogler and in the process losing his financial support of the hospital.
“Kids” - House tries to get Cameron to come back now that Vogler is gone and he can have his whole team. A meningitis outbreak at a swim meet floods the clinic and House must help with the patience. House takes an interest in a girl that was diving at the swim meet and at first look seems to have meningitis, but House suspects it is something else. He decides to take it on as a case. They give her a lumbar puncture. She then presents with a GI bleed. They have her swallow a little camera to find out where the blood is coming from. The girl has an absent seizure after they rule out cancer. House interviews replacements for Cameron, but he still wants to rehire Cameron. Foreman does a ultrasound CT scan since they can get access to the modern CT scan machine. Bleeding is found in her temporal lobe and Cuddy finally gives them an operating room and a surgeon. It turns out her rash is her bleeding into her skin. It turns out she is pregnant and they have to terminate the pregnancy. In the end House gets Cameron to come back if he goes on a date with her.
“Love Hurts” - Wilson finds out that House agreed to take Cameron on a date in order to get her to come back. A patient in the clinic has a stroke after House yells at him for spilling apple juice on him. Cameron tells Foreman and Chase that the terms of her coming back was a date with House. Foreman finds out that the man has trouble remembering nouns to use and his guru helps translate about him seeing different Eastern medicine specialists. They find his guru choking the patient and Chase recognizes that she is a dominatrix and that the patient likes being strangled/feeling pain. The patient has trouble dealing with his dominatrix. The bring her back in, but they still cannot get him to agree to sign the consent for surgery. Chase and Cameron search the patient’s home to find out about his parents. They find out that his parents are actually alive, but they do not want to have anything to do with him because of his pain perversion. House guilts them into signing the consent form. House tries to act nice on the date with Cameron before telling her that she only wants to date him because he is damaged and that is the kind of thing she needs. His bad breath leads House to realize their is an infection in the jaw that was hidden from scans by the metal plate that was there to repair his broken jaw.
