Murder, She Wrote Season 1 Disc 3 Side B Wrap Up
This week’s TV on DVD Season I am going through and doing wrap ups of is the double sided 3 disc Murder, She Wrote Season 1 set. I will be posting about one disc each day until this Saturday. This is the wrap up of Side A of Disc 3.

“Armed Response” - In the beginning of an episode Jessica is picked up at the airport in Texas by a lawyer and it becomes apparent she is to testify for another writer. Kids cause her to fall and hurt her foot at the airport and the lawyer wants to sue, but she thinks it was entirely just an accident. Jessica ends up staying at the hospital overnight despite the minor injury. In the evening while getting some change to use the vending machine she witnesses two doctors having a heated argument. That night a doctor turns up murdered at his house. A woman (Jenny) is taken in for questioning and Jessica believes she is innocent and she asks her lawyer to help the girl out. Jessica works with the detective on the case to see how the timing of the death proves it was not Jenny. Jenny then ends up being framed with the murder weapon found in her possession. Jessica discovers that the argument she overheard was a taped one and those two doctors were actually involved in the murder of the other doctor.
“Murder at the Oasis” - Jessica visits friends to see a tennis tournament. The father starts a fight when his daughter tries to hang out with a tennis player he thinks is a bum. The father is then found murdered. The city does not have a homicide division and is asked to help to help the Sargent with the case. The home is very well guarded, so it seems that the murderer is probably on the grounds (family or workers). The bodyguard thinks that the man’s son (Mickey) killed his father. Jessica suspects that it could have been a mob killing. The man (Vick) that was with the man’s daughter (Shannon) is arrested seeming to escape to Mexico. He says it was Shannon and Jessica suspects that it was not Vick. Jessica realizes the Sargent knew about a picture that Shannon removed before the police arrived and that he was the murderer.
“Funeral at Fifty-Mile” - The episode begins with Jessica attending a funeral. It turns out that there is no will and the daughter is to inherit everything. The man’s brother says that the deal was to be that he would buy the man’s land and make the daughter comfortable financially. A man shows up with the last will and testament of the man and it ruins the plans of both the daughter and brother. Supposedly the man (Carl) served in the war with the dead man, but it turns out that he does not seem to know the commanding officer’s name was Fletcher (Jessica’s deceased husband). The next morning Carl is found hung in the barn. The Marshal has never dealt with a murder and Jessica offers some friendly advice to help lead them in the right direction. Three of the ladies (including Jessica) at the ranch do not exactly have an alibi because they were sleeping and a man named Art (the daughter’s husband). The Marshal thinks that none of the woman could have done it due to not be strong enough, although Jessica is not so sure. Jessica thinks it is Carl’s wife because now she will inherit the whole property. The Marshal finally agrees that Carl’s wife could have done it because she is good at arm wrestling. Jessica finds a hangman’s noose outside her window that evening as a warning from the murderer. It turns out that she was never married to Carl and no longer can be seen to have a motive. It turns their is a big secret being kept from the daughter and Carl knew it and why he ended up getting the farm. It turns out Carl raped the dead man and is the father of the daughter and it was the dead man that kept his four friends from lynching Carl. The four now without the man to stop they killed Carl.
