by

This week’s TV on DVD Season I am going through and doing wrap ups of is the two disc Samantha Brown Passport to Great Weekends: Season 1 set. I will be posting about one disc today and the second disc tomorrow.

Samantha Brown Passport to Great Weekends Season 1

“Orlando” - Samantha bases herself in downtown Orlando for the weekend. She starts her weekend on Friday going to a wine bar. On Saturday morning she visits the City Arts Factory to learn how to make a beer pint glass with a glass artist. Next she visits the local Farmer’s market. After she scrounges for free samples there, which I personally find offensive because she never even suggests also buying stuff from the vendors, she goes to a shoe store. That evening she has drinks with the artists using her glass cup. On Sunday she visits a local soul food restaurant that most tourists do not even notice. Sunday afternoon she does wind tunnel sky diving.

“New Orleans” - Friday night starts with Samantha on Bourbon Street. Samantha then visits the music clubs the locals visit. On Saturday she checks out the city’s signature sandwich. She then goes on a swamp tour. Returning the city she has her fortune told. On Saturday night she goes to a Rock & Bowl bowling alley. On Sunday she helps with Habitat for Humanity building musician village housing.

“Paris” - She starts the weekend with a night roller blade ride on Friday night. Saturday morning she goes on a walking tour of an old neighborhood of Paris not often visited by tourists. Later in the day she rents a bike from one of the many locations in town that you can rent them from on the street from machines. She then goes fashion shopping. For dinner she has chocolate mousse. She spends Sunday morning souvenir shopping.

“Tuscany” - She starts her Friday climbing to the top of the Duomo in Florence. She then takes a Vespa ride to the mountains outside the city to view the city. On Saturday she goes to the farmer’s market. She shops for ingredients for a cooking class later. She then goes to a hill top town that is far away from the tourists. That evening she returns to Florence to learn to cook Tuscan style. On Sunday before going home she visits a perfume doctor that makes a special perfume blend just for her.

“London” - On Friday night Samantha visits a pub. After the pub she visits St. Paul’s Cathedral, where she climbs to the top to view the city. Saturday starts at a farmer’s market, which seems to be a thing she does in a lot of the weekend getaway cities. After the market she visits a deli that carries tradition British food. In the afternoon she visits the Tate Modern art museum. In the evening she sees the ceremony of the keys at the Tower of London. On Sunday morning she get tea at one of the green cafes that mostly serve cabbies. In the afternoon she visits Camden Market.

“Miami” - This episode has Samantha with two female friends from college doing a girls weekend. Friday they get no further than their hotel. Saturday visit the Van Dyke Cafe. In the afternoon they visit a beauty shop and salon in South Beach. In the evening they go to a nightclub. On Sunday they go to the beach. They also visit a fashion store.

“Las Vegas” - She starts the weekend with a Pussycat Dolls lesson. She goes to an Italian seafood restaurant for dinner. Saturday morning she experience Nascar driving speeds as a passenger in a race car. She then visits a fashion store. In the evening she heads to a bar famous for its bacon martini.

“Cabo San Lucas” - On Friday she learns about the making of tequila and enjoys the local fiesta. Saturday morning she has coconut milk in a coconut. Then she goes kayaking before taking a zip line ride. Later she visits a Mexican folk art shop. Sunday morning she goes to a local organic market before getting a personal cooking lesson in the villa she is staying at. In the evening she takes a sunset cruise.

“New Hampshire” - In this episode she goes home to the New Hampshire sea coast. Her first stop is a hot dog place. In the evening she has dinner in Portsmouth with her dad at a fish cafe. Saturday she goes skiing and visits a brewery. In the evening she tries the brewery’s beers in a row of shot glasses. Sunday she has breakfast with her sister at an interesting restaurant whose menu includes green eggs and ham.
