The Closer Season 1 Disc 3 Wrap Up
This week’s TV on DVD Season I am going through and doing wrap ups of is the four disc The Closer Season 1 set. I will post a wrap up of one disc per day finishing the set on Thursday. Today’s wrap up is of Disc 3.

“Batter Up” - A man ends up dead as part of a series of gay bashings with a baseball bat. Brenda brings her sick cat to the scene and a forensic worker ends up taking the cat to an emergency animal hospital. It later turns out the cat was pregnant. Taylor makes an arrest for a suspect and Brenda does not want to keep the case after that and Pope convinces her to stay on the case. The suspect ends up saying that it does not go after gays as a hate crime, but rather because they are easier and richer targets. After a search of the suspect’s home they find a bat, which contradicts the evidence already found for the death making it seem that someone else did the bashing that killed. She goes out with Fritz and then ends up going out for drinks with Pope while Fritz does her a favor of picking up the cat from the hospital. Pope gives her earrings while they are having drinks. Taylor gets the suspect to confess, but then Brenda’s team confirms the suspect’s original alibi about being at the grocery store during the murder. She then discovers the victim was having an affair and that gave his partner a motive.
“Good Housekeeping” - In this episode a girl is found in a river. When they try to arrest a man that is their main suspect, the man kills himself. Brenda discovers that the girl had made it home the day she disappeared because a pamphlet with that date was in her backpack at the house where the girl worked along with her mother and cousin. The man employing admits to having sexual relations with the girl. He says she slipped on the stairs and died, but his story does not make sense because when Brenda lies to say the girl regained consciousness when he hit the water and the man agrees. This leads to the son, who the man was covering up for. The son set up the original suspect by saying he was around the area. Brenda ends up taking a trip with Fritz to Mexico to try to convince the son to come home by trying to extradite his mother for aiding his escape over the border. He ends up being convicted by the Mexicans because he murdered a Mexican National. The episode ends with Brenda and Fritz staying the night in Mexico and Sergeant Gabriels taking care of the kittens.
“The Butler Did It” - This episode begins showing Brenda having trouble parallel parking at a crime scene. When they cannot get into a yard to arrest a Butler, Brenda jumps the wall by driving a police car up to the wall. She then finds the Butler hanging from a flag pole in the backyard. It is believed that he was wrongly being charged with murdering the woman who inherited the house he worked at. Thus it seems the Butler did not commit suicide, but instead might have been murdered. They bring in the kids of the man the butler worked for, as they had motivation to murder the woman because she inherited almost everything and the butler because he might have known who really killed the woman. They find the ladder was wiped clean of fingerprints proving the butler was murdered. The Dunton kids then start a fight that includes shots fired at their father’s house. She slowly clears them all for being involved in the murder and discovers that their lawyer was the murderer for both murders.
