“Blue Blood” - A detective’s body is found and there is an uproar about them having to wait for Brenda to arrive and allow for the body to be moved. The detective is found next to the criminal that they think killed the detective at the same time the detective killed him. Brenda finds it fishy because the detective was off duty and only got one shot off when they are trained to shoot in bursts. Provenza is scolded for having chocolate because Brenda cannot deal with the temptation of sugar, which she has given up. Tao uses a digital recreation to show that there had to have been a third person involved in the shooting. Brenda interrogates the detective’s partner. Fritz talks to Brenda about possibly moving back East, but Brenda does not want him to go although she is not ready to commit to moving in together. Fritz tells her that Pope recently got served divorce papers. When she confronts him she learns that it is because his wife found another man and does not want the kids she had with Pope. In the case everything seems to keep leading back to an informant named Ari, whose name is supposed to be a secret, but obviously is not. Brenda wants to charge another detective with the murder. Provenza and Flynn go to Las Vegas to bring Ari back to L.A. Brenda figures out how the detective killed the other detective and man using the detective’s fun by easily convincing Fritz give her his gun. It turns out the detective’s partner was mad because he found out that his son, who is sick with bone cancer, was actually the son of his partner. Pope asks Brenda out for a drink or dinner, but she declines because she and Fritz are getting ready to move in together.
“Mom Duty” - This episode begins with Fritz moving some of his stuff in while Gabriel sits in the kitchen waiting to take Brenda to a case. The case is about a jury member dying in the jury room in a major murder trial. It appears the jury member died of a heart attack. They think that the juror was poisoned. Brenda learns that her mother is on her way to L.A. for a funeral. Brenda wants to talk to the other jury members, but Pope says she cannot. Brenda asks Fritz to move back out until her mother is gone. Fritz tells her that he will move out, but the next night he is taking her and her mother to dinner to tell her mother they are together and if Brenda does not agree to this they are over. The juror is found to have 16 pills of her medication in her body that caused he to die meaning she was poisoned or she purposely overdosed. The juror’s husband does not think that she would have overdosed because she was a very organized person. Brenda’s mom find some things suspicious such as Brenda’s closet half empty. Her mom goes with Brenda to work the next day. Brenda interviews the jury consultant. Brenda gets caught up in the case and cannot go to the funeral with her mother, so Provenza takes her. They suspect the juror was murdered by the son of the man on trial in the murder trial. When they track down the son they end up shooting him. Brenda talks with the son at the hospital. Brenda begins to look into the woman’s family because the family was having problems with her mother-in-law wanting to not go into a nursing home. It turns out the mother-in-law killed her using vitamins filled with the woman’s heart medication. Fritz comes to take them Brenda and her mother out to dinner and her mother is excited about her daughter being in a relationship.
“Slippin’” - Fritz and Brenda take her mother on a tour of the actors homes. Brenda gets a call and must leave to work a case. Three people are shot in an apparent gang related shooting. It turns out Taylor knew the man killed and has Brenda’s team work as a sort of favor. Brenda coaches Gabriel on the way to interviewing the victim’s parents. When he delivers the news the mother outrages. Brenda has the top players in the area’s gang to see what if any connection the dead man has to the gang. It seems like the man might have been killed because they thought they were killing his father. Brenda’s mom cleaned the house while Brenda was at work. Brenda interviews the surviving woman in the shooting. They find a gang grafitti that Sanchez translates to knowing which two gang members probably participated in the drive by. It turns out that the gang members shot the three in the car because they thought it was the one that shot at their gang in a different shooting just because it had a USC sticker on the back. Brenda looks into a valet driver doing the first shooting using one of the valet cars. The valet admits to driving, but he was forced to do it by the one that actually did the shooting. He gives up the name of the shooter. Brenda’s mother decides to leave early and lets on she was on to the fact that Fritz was about to move in and was currently living out front in the U-Haul.
