The Jetsons Season 1 Disc 2 Wrap Up

by

This week’s TV on DVD Season I am going through and doing wrap ups of is the four disc The Jetsons Season 1 set. I will be posting about one disc each day until this Thursday. Today I am wrapping up the episodes on Disc 2.

The Jetsons Season 1

“Rosey’s Boyfriend” - This episode begins with Judy in a love fog because she is in love with Booster, which almost leads to being hit by a car as she floats out of the pedestrian lane. She keeps thinking everyone looks like Booster. Henry makes a robot called Mac to help him with his work. At first Mac is a little uncoordinated and is wrecking things. Mac does slowly get better at being helpful. When Mac goes to the Jetsons’ apartment to find the vaccuum cleaner Rosie and Mac fall in love with each other. Henry ends up having to deactivate Mac because he causes too many mistakes and upsets many of the tenants. Rosey starts to mop around when she learns Mac was deactivated. Elroy finds Mac and decides to turn him back on. Rosey becomes her normal self again by being able to talk to Mac on the videophone for five minutes every morning.

“Elroy’s TV Show” - This episode begins differently with TV show writers trying to come up with some entertaining new television ideas instead of educational things. As they are trying to come up with new ideas they see Elroy playing with Astro in the park and they come with the idea of Spaceboy and his dog and ask Elroy to be in the show. Mr. Spacely gets annoyed when George quits because Elroy hit it rich with the gig. Spacely’s son, Arthur, and his dog want to be on television and think they are better then Elroy and Astro. Judy ends up jealous of Elroy. George goes on set with Elroy and causes annoyance as he tries to supervise everything. They get him out of the way be making him the mad scientist character, who ends up beat up by a robot. Elroy quits with George after the incident. George ends up getting his job back by then letting Arthur take Elroy’s place.

“Uniblab” - The episode begins with George trying to get a promotion. He ends up doing exercises by laying in bed and watching his image on television doing exercise before getting up to go ask for the promotion. Elroy then fakes being sick to get out of a test, but he does not fool Jane. A robot ends up with the supervisor promotion instead of George. The robot records George saying bad things about Spacely and it gets George in trouble and fired yet again. Uniblab ends up causing problems after Henry adds special spring tonic to the oil that George puts in him. George gets the supervisor job after the incident.

“A Visit from Grandpa” - George’s grandpa comes for a visit in this episode. It begins with him getting stopped for speeding. He gets off with a warning and on his way to the Jetson’s he helps a woman with car trouble. Grandpa has more energy then everyone else despite being 110. George and Grandpa go bowling together. The bowling alley is pretty interesting with the lanes in a circle formation rather then just a line like nowadays. Grandpa bowls with three balls on three different lanes and gets strikes on all of them at the same time. Judy takes Jane and Grandpa sky skiing and again Grandpa proves to be more active than them and is wearing them down. Grandpa and Astro go to the park. While at the park he finds a woman looking for a babysitter and takes care of her baby while she goes on a second honeymoon with her husband. Judy and Jane end up misreading the situation and thinking Grandpa is marrying someone and not just babysitting.

“Astro’s Top Secret” - This starts differently with there being a narrating talking about the relationship between a dog and man. It then shows George complaining about Astro being so “friendly.” The scene then changes to Mr. Spacely and Cogswell going golfing together. The golf game turns ugly with them beating each other up with golf clubs and then start a business war. Cogswell sends a guy over to spy on Spacely. Mr. Spacely then asks George to come up with a way to wipe out Cogswell. The spy thinks Astro has something to do with the plot to ruin Cogswell and steals him to try and figure out the supposed plot. Cogswell ends up giving up when he finds out Astro can somehow fly. George ends up fired yet again when it is discovered Astro was flying because he swallowed a toy. He then ends up Vice President when Astro swallows Elroy’s computer making him sound smart.

“Elroy’s Pal” - This episode begins with Elroy watching a Space Pals show. The Moonies cereal comes with a television on the back. Elroy zooms around with his Nimbus space bot, which ends up chasing his dad, George. Elroy learns about a contest involving buying Moonies and writing an essay about why he likes Moonies. The winner gets a visit from Nimbus. Elroy ends up winning the contest. They end up sending him 200 boxes of Moonies in consolation of Nimbus being unable to visit Elroy. It turns out that he cannot visit because he has a cold. George convinces him to go, but only after George leaves and then George comes back and ends up borrowing Nimbus’ costume to pretend to be Nimbus in order for Elroy to not be disappointed.

“Test Pilot” - Mr. Spacely has an indestructable suit he needs tested. During a physical George swallows a thing that takes pictures and shows them on a screen. The doctor comes to the conclusion he is in bad health and near death. Mr. Spacely decides to have George test the suit. Then Cogswell tries to get George to test his jacket by tempting him with more money. Spacely counter offers to try to keep George. George ends up testing the suit because he thinks the end is near. Right before a missile test the doctor tells him the test were wrong and George should live to be 150. He tries to get out of the test, but it is too late. The jacket ends up being successful and George becomes a Vice President. The jacket ends up ruined in the laundry and George ends up saying he is going to work for Cogswell because Spacely is ruined.
