The Jetsons Season 1 Disc 3 Wrap Up
This week’s TV on DVD Season I am going through and doing wrap ups of is the four disc The Jetsons Season 1 set. I will be posting about one disc each day until this Thursday. Today I am wrapping up the episodes on Disc 3.

“Millionaire Astro” - This episode begins with Astro coming to George’s work because he missed George. A guy comes to take Astro because supposedly he belongs to a millionaire. The whole family tries to keep him from taking Astro. Even George gets involved because he does not want the rest of the family to be sad for losing Astro. They end up going to court to try and keep Astro. The Jury Vac decides Astro goes to the millionaire, but the Jetsons are awarded reasonable visiting hours. In his new home Astro gets a lot of luxury, but he missed the Jetsons. The millionaire finally realizes that Astro belongs with the Jetsons and legally gives Astro to them.
“The Little Man” - This episode begins with Mr. Spacely calling Cogswell. Mr. Spacely claims that his minivac will put Cogswell out of business. The machine ends up shrinking George and crate. The getting bigger part is broken and George is stuck small. The thing they need to fix the machine is a Cogswell Cog, but Cogswell is not letting Spacely get any. George has trouble eating at dinner because everything is so big and Jane comes up with the idea of him using Elroy’s old baby bottle. Mr. Spacely tells George to sneak into Cogswell’s and steal a cog to fix the machine. At one point Astro almost accidentally swallows George. He gets the cog and is chased out by Cogswell with a fly swatter. In the end George accidentally shrunk Cogswell and Mr. Spacely.
“Las Venus” - Elroy and Judy go to Grandma’s and Astro goes to the kennel while Jane and George go away to Las Venus. There is a long scene of them traveling to Las Venus including getting pulled over for speeding through Lunarville. They finally do arrive at their hotel. The guy behind the counter spins a wheel to decide what room they get to stay in. Their room comes down to them and then goes back up into the building. The room includes a private robot dealer. Jane goes off to the shop to get a Saturn bikini. Mr. Spacely ends up calling George and asks him to talk to someone who is staying at the hotel to help the company keep a contract. Mr. Spacely makes him a Vice President again to convince George to go see GeGe Galaxy to get the contract signed. George ends up in shock because GeGe is a beautiful woman and then invites him to dinner to discuss the contract. Before meeting GeGe for dinner, he takes Jane out, which ends up including a dancing contest. He then ends up having to dance with GeGe, as he takes a break from the dance contest before rushing back as Jane is still spinning. Basically he ends up rushing between the two ladies. Jane then ends up at the same restaurant he is meeting GeGe at. Jane finds out and he ends up getting the contract without much of a scene of Jane getting mad even.
“Jane’s Driving Lesson” - This episode begins with George doing a crossword puzzle at work using a machine to help him do the puzzle. On the way home he stops at the barber shop to avoid the traffic. The barber gives him odd haircuts including an umbrella cut. George comes home and Jane is not home after him talking all the way home about how good it is to have a wife to come home to and that he is glad she does not drive because then she is always home with dinner ready when he comes home. Sure this is an example of how the cartoon is outdated, but it is at the same time interesting to see the old ideas of the time this was made portrayed in the cartoon. Jane decides she needs a car because she is annoyed with the bus experiences. Jane ends up taking a course at the Aero-Space Driving School to learn to drive. The teacher is nervous because Jane is another lady driver, which this show mostly portrays then as being hazardous. During the lesson she makes a lot of odd mistakes, such as running into a stop sign. The teacher ends up making Jane stop at the bank, so he can check his insurance policy. The bank ends up robbed and the robber jumps in with Jane in the car and makes her drive away. She ends up making the robber nervous with her driving and want to give himself up to the police and she helps give him up by stopping at the police station when she gets lost.
“G.I. Jetson” - This episode begins with George having a bad dream involving Mr. Spacely being the devil. George ends up having to report for two weeks of training in the reserves of the state space guard. He thinks he is getting away from Mr. Spacely, but Mr. Spacely ends up being his commander. The training starts at the indoctrination center where they get a haircut, medical examination, I.Q. test, and get the uniform. Uniblab ends up being the sargant. George and Henry end up working in the kitchen. Uniblab tricks him again to talk bad against Mr. Spacely like in the “Uniblab” episode. Henry helps again this time by having Uniblab short circuiting when the corporal tries to pin a medal on Uniblab.
“Miss Solar System” - This episode begins with Jane getting a new dress that lights up. George learns about the Miss Solar System contest while watching the Fred Solarman show in 3D on his television. Jane gets annoyed that he says she is only almost good enough for the contest and does not even notice the new dress. Jane decides to submit a photo and ends up in the contest. Mr. Spacely and George end up being the mystery judges, but Mr. Spacely’s wife figures out his disquise. At first George does not realize Miss Western Hemisphere is Jane, but he is very impressed by her and he gives her the crown. The crown is taken away when they discover the judge and winner were married.
“TV or Not TV” - This episode begins with Jane and Elroy looking for Astro to give him a bath. While putting some mail in a mail box Astro and George witness a armor vehicle being robbed. They do not realize it was just a movie shoot and they think they are in danger of being offed. They end up leaving the family and hiding out at Mr. Spacely’s cabin to keep the family from danger. They have no food and they try to go hunting. While they are gone Jane has a prowler system installed. George and Astro then come back in disquise to get supplies. He finally figures out that they just want him to sign a release and he will get a part in a TV show, which ends up with him being splatted with pie.
